1. Housing
Provide a large cage or aviary with plenty of space for movement.
Include natural branches for perching and climbing.
Avoid wire flooring—use natural substrate like sand or wood chips.
Keep the cage in a quiet, well-lit area but away from direct sunlight and drafts.
2. Diet
Offer a variety of foods, including:
Live insects (mealworms, crickets)
Sunflower seeds, peanuts (unsalted, unroasted)
Fruit (apple, berries)
Soft foods (scrambled egg, suet)
Provide fresh water daily for drinking and bathing.
3. Enrichment & Social Needs
Great tits are highly active and intelligent, so they need branches, leaves, and toys to explore.
If possible, house them with another great tit (if they are both rescued and healthy).
4. Health & Hygiene
Keep the cage clean by changing bedding and food daily.
Watch for signs of stress or illness, such as fluffed-up feathers, lethargy, or refusal to eat.
If the bird seems sick, consult a wildlife vet immediately.
5. Release & Rehabilitation
If the bird is healthy and capable of survival, release it back into the wild when it's strong enough.
Gradual soft release (providing food outside while letting it adapt) is best.
This bird is very beautiful and very fragile too. They need lots of care and they are amazing. Hope they can breed in the cage.
